Posted in Travel on 16-Sep-2019
As a birthday gift to my sister, we did a short overnight trip to Tillamook and Cannon Beach; her first visit to Oregon. We stayed at the Hallmark Resort in Canon Beach.
Seattle’s Warmest January Ever
Posted in Weather on 17-Jan-2019
I see reports that the first half of January was the warmest such period in Seattle history (records go back to 1890). The average daily temperature for the first 16 days of the month was 51.8; the normal average is 42! Last year it was 45.

Craters of the Moon
Posted in Travel on 14-Oct-2018
On our way to Utah, we decided to include Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. It’s a pretty remote spot and isn’t on the way to anywhere else so this seemed like our only opportunity to visit. “Weirdly beautiful” describes it for me.
US Route 20 heading east from Boise was an astoundingly stark setting.
Rain!
Posted in Weather on 11-Sep-2018
It’s not going to be THAT much…. maybe a little more than 0.1 inches, but the showers Sunday and today are the first meaningful rainfall since April 14th. That’s 150 days!
Terribe Air

Worst Seattle air ever! This is the sun around 4:00 pm.

I finally heeded the advice of my golf coach and decided to get custom-fit irons. Picked them up today; will be very interested to see if they improve my game.
North Cascades
Posted in Travel on 14-Jun-2018
With Trisha’s sister, Tessa, we drove the North Cascades Highway to Ross Lake. I must say, I was underwhelmed. Ross Lake is nice enough but otherwise the scenery was not very impressive.
