76 Again!

After I shot 76 back on August 11 I wondered when I’d ever break 80 again. Over the last five weeks my game has been inconsistent (what’s new?) with an average score of just over 87. My two rounds in Texas were just so-so and a non-scoring practice round yesterday was nondescript. I was pleasantly surprised to start off with a birdie today but had no inkling that I would record three more birdies and go to the 14th tee at even par. My one-under par 35 on the front nine was the first time I’ve played a sub-par nine holes. The inconsistent play of the past couple of weeks is reflected in today Handicap Index update: I’m back up to 13.8.

Golf at The Bandit

Today Zig, Bo and I ventured out to The Bandit Golf Course on the edge of New Braunfels, TX.  It’s an immaculate course with expansive fairways and large, challenging greens.  I played a steady, mostly pars/bogeys round to card an acceptable 87.

At the Salt Lick

One of the required stops any time we’re near Austin, TX is a meal at the famous Salt Lick BBQ.  Here’s a snap of Trisha and me eyeing the grill:
