Georgeous Fall Afternoon

After spending yesterday morning getting a root canal I was more than ready to savor today’s extraordinary weather. I should have just gone to the practice range but I just felt like walking the course and chasing the ball… and enjoying the afternoon sun and fall colors. What a treat!

Last Day in the Redwoods

This morning we did the final leg of our Highway 101/Redwoods trip spending the morning in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park driving the famous Avenue of the Giants. This view is typical of our three days in the forests: incredibly beautiful and peaceful.
Gould Grove Nature Trail
After lunch at the F.K. Lane trailhead at the southern end of Avenue of the Giants, we drove 206 miles north and east to Grants Pass, OR.
In the Redwoods

We started the day at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and walked the famous Stout Grove trail. Then it was south to the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and Redwood National Park and finally at the Best Western in Eureka, CA.

It’s Day 1 of our trip south along Highway 101 to the coastal redwoods parks. We did some of this route during our 2010 retreat to Cannon Beach but today we have perfect clear weather. The coastal views are spectacular.

Dental Work

Just back from periodontist. One molar needs root canal and crown. Another one is getting extracted and replaced with an implant. The excitement starts in a couple of weeks.

I finished a round of golf at Mt. Si at nearly 5:00 and upon exiting the parking lot came upon a nice view of the local elk heard grazing in the sunset.

I guess I’m making the mental transition into fall. I got this view walking back from the mail box this afternoon. Gee it’s lovely. Mild temperature, slight drizzle and stunning colors with the mountains in the background.
