Brrr… First Snow of the Winter
I was fantasizing for a while that maybe we just might get through December and not get any snow until 2013. Alas, that won’t be the case. We awoke this morning to see a coating of wet snow. This is a later date than most years for a first snowfalls so we can’t whine too much.

Hunkered Down

It’s the first really wintery weekend this year so I’m hunkered down working on Christmas and seasonal projects. I continue to tinker with my U.S. stamp collection. I’ve been adding images to the database, a tedious task but one that adds a lot to the browsing experience.
The temperature was below 40 degrees this morning and the snow is almost down to our elevation. But mostly, it’s just gray. Here’s the view from my office window–of course, there are snow-covered mountains lurking behind the dreary fog:

First Snow on the Mountain
The temperature got down to 40 degrees just around sun-up this morning and we saw the first snow on the upper reaches of Mt. Si. Summer ended so suddenly with the cooler air and rainfall of Friday, October 12. Two weeks ago the high temp as 72 degrees and this week it looks like we won’t get above 50. Hopefully we’ll see at least some fall days without rain before real winter sets in.

We didn’t hit the official record for rainless days. It rained last night for the first time in 48 days.
Our plants looks very perky this morning.

Rain City? Not this Summer
For the first time since there have been official records, Seattle has been totally rain free for the month of August with the last measurable precipitation having fallen on July 22. We’ve had a couple or drizzly mornings in North Bend but no real raindrops have descended here either.

Weather Whine
I just need to vent. It’s June 18; the high temperature today was 59 degrees… fifteen degrees below the day’s average. We’ve had nearly 2 inches of rainfall on eight rainy days. And only one mostly sunny day. This would be normal for March but the first day of summer is just three days off.
Equally disappointing is the fact that I’ve managed to get in only three rounds of golf so far this month compared to ten at the same point last year.

Rainy End of May

It’s a typical rainy spring morning but ever so beautiful. Here’s our house framed by a cloud-shrouded Mt. Si…

… and a view of a small area of our little garden that I began work on when I retired in February of 2010.

Sun? Eventually
There’s hope for some peaks of sunshine late in the week. We need it. The ground is just mush after I don’t know how many consecutive days of rain.

It Looks Like Another Mostly Wet Week
I’m glad we did some yard cleanup this Saturday and Sunday because the coming week looks pretty grim. I’m playing in a scramble tournament on Sunday so I hope we get a break from the drizzle by then.

Spring in North Bend
It’s a typical spring day, I guess. We woke up to a 2-3 inch blanket of fresh snow.
The good news is the sun came out and by 1:30 I was on the golf course for a couple of hours of practice.
