Seahawks 2014
Posted by nbdog in Uncategorized on 22-Aug-2014
I won’t be surprised if the Seahawks don’t win 13 games again but I do expect they will be fun to watch, especially if the offense performs the way it has in preseason games against San Diego and Chicago.
Garage Re-Do Done!
Posted by nbdog in Around the house on 13-Aug-2014
It took about five weeks of demolition, weeding, prep work and construction but the garage is finally finished.

The maple veneer looks fantastic and we have tons of adjustable shelving to make the most efficient use of the space. No I have room to practice putting in the garage with moving either of the cars outside.
Mt. Si Club Championship
I didn’t putt well but otherwise played pretty good golf to finish 1st net and 4th gross in my division, and 20th overall. Scoring was way up compared to prior years due, I think, to a particularly challenging course setup. The blue tees were mostly as far back as they could be and the hole placements were very challenging, often on the edge of a slope or tucked into a hard-to-access corner. I was very happy with three birdies over the two days (on holes 2, 3 and 18). A triple bogey on my nemesis hole, number 11, in today’s round kept be out of 2nd place.
30 Years Together
We both agree… these 30 years have flown by. And we both remember so clearly that lovely August day in Ann Arbor when we were married at the county jail. To celebrate we got a big suite at the Suncadia Lodge overlooking the mountains and Cle Elum River. We had a scrumptious dinner at the Hoist House Restaurant at Swiftwater Cellars. This morning Trisha rode with me for 18 holes on the Rope Rider golf course then she retired to the spa for the afternoon while I played a pathetic second round of golf on the Prospector course. Even with the crumby golf, it was a delightful 48 hours in a picturesque setting to recall the past thirty years and contemplate what the next decades hold for us.
Breaking 80
My little trophy case of sub-80 rounds of golf is finally beginning to fill up after shooting 78 and 75 in consecutive outings this week. I hope I can get in another four of five scores in the seventies this year before the weather gets ugly.
Low Golf Score Ever
I started today’s round with a pedestrian bogey, missing a six-foot par putt. Things took off from then on, however. I birdied holes 2 and 3 and pared the next four, stepping to the 8th tee box at one under par. The 75 ties my low score ever, first recorded November of last year.
Echinaceas

I always think the flowers look so beautiful when they are being watered. The morning sun and the sparkling droplets of water are a perfect highlight to the plants’ amazing colors. Here’s a clump of Trisha’s echinaceas taking in a morning sprinkling:
Shoulder Rehab Starts Today
Last week’s MRI confirmed the orthopedist’s diagnosis that I have a small rotator cuff tear in the right shoulder. I start physical therapy this afternoon and will check back with the surgeon in six weeks to see how things have progressed.
Elephants Puzzle

Our latest “creation” was a challenging but satisfying one. The reflections in the water were especially difficult. But you gotta love the pink flamingos, zebra and baby elephant.
