Nutmeg Gone
We had to say goodbye to Nutmeg today! After many months of declining health we finally contacted Dr. Treuting. I carried our sweet pup around the yard one last time and let her smell a few flowers in Trisha’s garden. Then I drove her to the vet’s van at the local shopping center and she went to sleep for the last time.
Golf – The Bear Trace
The Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain (Crossville, TN) is a gorgeous and very challenging Jack Nicklaus design with a 128 slope rating from the white tees. I didn’t play very well (102) and this isn’t a forgiving layout but one I’d love to play again sometime: it’s a lovely setting.
Golf – Knoxville, TN
Played River Islands course just outside of Knoxville, TN with Tim Fusco. It’s a beautiful Arthur Hills design meandering along and crossing the French Broad River. I shot a respectable 95 on the 129 slope rating course with four pars. I’d play this one again any time.
Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf
Played the Coeur d’Alene Resort course with it’s famous floating green. Overall, I didn’t like the course that much. It has several kind of odd holes that almost remind me of an over sized miniature golf course: blind tee shots, par threes from an elevated tee to greens surrounded by bunkers and boulders,… Shot a not-very-impressive 98 (with a 10 on the 7th hole). Oh, and plunked my tee shot into the water on the floating green hole.
First time under 90 at Mt. Si
I broke 90 at Mt. Si for the first time (in my 150th round of golf). I was just three over on the front nine with 7 pars. Couldn’t keep it going on the back nine, though, where I had seven bogeys and two double bogeys.
First Official Round of Golf
Played 18 holes at Mt. Si shooting 114. Pretty shakey.
