Wow! 45-year Running Streak Comes to an End
I had read about this guy, Mark Covert, on the Unites States Running Streak Association web site. In the early 1970’s I had a streak of running every day for six months, six days; which at the time I thought was impressive. Little did I know of streaks like Mr. Covert’s or half a dozen others with streaks of forty plus years. On Tuesday, July 23, Mr. Covert did the last run of his 45-year streak and took the next day off. Truly amazing.

The Passing of “Caballo Blanco”

El Caballo Blanco
I might not even have noticed today’s news about the death of Micah True, the legendary ultra marathoner known as “Caballo Blanco, had I not just a couple of months ago listened to the book “Born to Run.” Caballo was clearly a one-of-a-kind character and somewhat of a godfather to the ultra running community. In what little I’ve read about him he seems like a soul that found his way early on in the simple act of running. I can totally understand it.
