Skagit River Eagles
We finally made a trek to US Route 2 along the Skagit River to see the bald eagles. It was a bit early in the season but we did see several of the majestic critters perched in the trees and flying over the river in search of salmon.
On the way back we took route 530 along the Sauk River where I got these misty view of forest and river.
Raptors at Skamania
During the summer the Skamania lodge invites the Raptor House Rehabilitation Center in Yakima to do presentations on their program and some of the birds they are treating. We watched a bit of this and eventually approached this magnificent bald eagle who had sat patiently during the long talk, seeming to enjoy just posing for photos. Among the several owls and hawks the raptor folks brought out this fellow was the most impressive.
