Lilies

Peach_Lily_2077Trisha’s lilies are spectacular this year.  I really like this peachy colored one:

Last of the Rhoddies

Most of our rhododendrons are fading so I wanted to get at least one photo of one of our little “Sneezy” varieties. The leaves, as always, are a little nibbled on but the blooms have a wonderful color.

Finally. Tanager Photo.

We first spied tanagers in the yard a couple of years back but they are quite shy and I’ve never seen them with camera in hand. Then this past weekend I almost got one while shooting flowers. Finally, this morning one was visiting the finch feeder just outside the family room and I was able to get a few images through the glass. Not great resolution but still it’s nice to have a digital memento of this lovely critter’s visit.

Rhoddies in Bloom

All of our rhododendrons have finally blossomed. I made a collage of some pics I took this morning before the rain and sleet.

More Rocks

We’ve been wanting to add a rock border to the west side of the yard. We did the east side a couple of years ago and the front along the driveway last year. Two tons of ledge stone arrived this morning and I hope to finish this weekend.

Topsoil Refresh

Our gardens needed some additional soil so I spent Thursday through Sunday spreading 10 yards of dirt around the yard: 179 buckets in total. Pretty tired by the end of the day. Here are the last two loads. hauling_dirt

Never Get Tired of these Things

The hellebores are enjoying our non-winter. The pink ones are especially glorious:

What a Cutie

squirrel_21_JanThe little brown squirrel that spent so many hours eating peanuts in the feeder hanging from our backyard maple was devoured by a hawk last fall.  Then, just a couple of months ago, this little fella appeared and is a regular visitor every day.  He gets a special stash of peanuts in the morning then forages under the bird feeders the rest of the day.

Looking like Winter

While driving back to North Bend from Bellevue this afternoon I got some lovely views of the mountains just west of Mt. Si.  We have the best of winter: fantastic views and clear, snow-free roads.
